The Simple Joys of a Girl and Her Tub

I am a bath kind of gal. If I had to choose over a shower and bath the latter would come up trumps every time. There is just something so relaxing about lounging in a bath. It isn't all about the practicality of getting clean but also allows you to unwind and just let all your troubles go. The best baths are those full to the brim with hot, steamy water complete with bath salts and soapy bubbles. The trouble is when you draw yourself such a sensuous bath you never want to leave.

Pure Passion Sunshine and Flowers Bathsalts: Oh man do these smell like summer. If you could bottle the zesty and earthy scent of a blooming field whilst the sun is beating down then this is it. It is like smelling a sunflower or a vanilla and lemon cake. I got my 500g box for £3.99 at TK Maxx.

The Body Shop Ginger Sparkle Body Polish: With invigorating ginger and community fair trade sweet honey this is a unique body exfoliator. Yes Christmas is long gone but the lack of cinnamon makes this a treat you can use all year through. It is a zingy polish that wakes up skin whilst leaving it silky smooth.

Marks & Spencer Indulgent Fig and Orange Oil: This heavenly scent is a thick and luxurious bubble bath with added moisture. Bubble bath can sometimes dry out the skin but this purple hued elixir is light enough for an everyday indulgent experience. The fig and oranges compliment each other like strawberries and cream, making for an awakening and delicate feminine bath oil.

Candles: No sensuous bath is complete without a few of your favourite candles flickering. The tone of light which comes from candles makes you instantly feel more relaxed. Both of these were gifts so I am unsure of their origins but the creamy candle has a rich vanilla aroma whilst the purple has a very soft floral smell.

Flowers: Now these are optional but I think nothing makes a bathroom feel more like a girly and feminine retreat than some fresh smelling flowers. These pink roses and purple tulips add a freshness to the whole bathing experience.

Book: Despite it not making an appearance in the images I think a book can also make a perfect companion for a relaxing bath. Sometimes all you want to do is lie there with your eyes closed but I find reading can be a nice alternative and make bathing last that much longer. The book? Well that is up to you.

Do you prefer baths or showers? And how do you like to make it relaxing and indulgent?

  4. I am also a bath girl and for me candles are very essential when it comes to relax in the tub. & for me a bath without a Lush bomb isn't a "good" bath haha

  5. Baths are essential for me for my pamper evenings after long days at uni and gym. I love the products you chose. So surprising to see someone who doesn't add Lush to their bathing essentials!!! xx

    1. I've enjoyed plenty of lush products in my day for sure. Just not going through a lush phase at the moment. Nice to experiment :)

  6. I've never tried bath salts before but they sound like a perfect accompaniment to a bath! I love my bath brimming with bubbles, listening to music in the back ground xx
