Whether it is Christmas or
New Year, it is hard sometimes to think of ways to reinvent them. New Year is
particular can especially be a letdown. It can cost a fortune to celebrate out
and sometimes it can be difficult to find the right special place to say
farewell to last year and hello to new beginnings. The fondest memories I have
are house parties, family and friend gatherings with games, music, canapés and
wine! But it gets more difficult to entice people to come together under one
roof and welcome the New Year with a bang. Equally, Christmas Eve, Christmas
Day and Boxing Day are three ample opportunities to add some fun, keep spirits
up and drinks-a-flowing.
If you are struggling to
find a suitable venue for the New Year or want to inject Christmas with some
merry celebrations then there is one option that I have come across. Murder
Mystery! I love to dress up and am always searching for an excuse to go all out
and with a Murder Mystery night you can choose your attire, from Pirates,
steampunk, Victorian England or a masquerade ball.
The general aim of a murder
mystery party is to guess whodunit and while each party will differ depending
on the theme you choose, the essence of the evening will remain the same. I
think if you can leave your inhibitions at bay and really get into character it
could be pretty memorable and unite family especially a way you might not have
before. You don’t have to spend a lot of, charity shops or fancy dress stores are
great. Even supermarkets offer affordable outfits perfect for this like ASDA
George’s dresses.
You can get Murder Mystery
packs from stores on the high street and online such as these whodunit packages. Incorporate a
sit-down meal to proceedings. Add a little background music and perhaps some
light interior décor – go mad and have a deadly New Year!
Have
you ever played Murder Mystery? What ways do you spice-up the festive and New
Year season?
