New ventures
www.macomina.com
Just to keep you up-to-date with what else I am doing in my spare-time I thought I would talk about a new venture I have taken recently with a brand called Macomina. They are a very new music entertainment company who specialise in outdoor, camping music venues. The idea is to support emerging talent by going to secret locations, sleeping in comfy tipi's and watching fairly intimate performances with friends. Travel costs are included, along with the tipi's and entertainment for £65. This is what Macomina say about their business on their website 'you are the atmosphere. It is the creativity and energy of our consumers that gives Macomina its unique spirit.'
When Macomina announced that they was looking for a blogger to cover features on art, current events, culture, music, technology and fashion I was instantly interested. I really like the brand's friendly, whimsical and inviting values and as the company is new I thought that it was good to get involved now - as I am sure that what Macomina offers will be a hit with festival and music lovers seeking something different for their birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and more. A perk of the job is that I will get free tickets to these events. So, as soon as one comes up and I can go I shall be sure to cover the event and take lots of photographs so you guys can see what the events are like. At the moment they are across several locations in Nottingham, Sheffield, York, Birmingham and Leeds. So, I am sure there will be a destination closest to everyone, so put on your wellies and join in the fun! I shall try to link my features on here too so you can see what I am writing about. It is all very exciting stuff I hope you agree. My first feature on 'Can Printed and Digital publishing continue to co-exist' has been uploaded, so have a gander won't you?!

Storytelling is important
Fable video, filmed by Urte, voice, model and edit by me
So, the previous post was just a fun zine making activity, the real deal is Fable, a zine all about storytelling... not lipstick to clarify some confusion. The response I got for Lippy was fantastic! I hope the response to Fable is equally as good. Here is a little promo video I did, which comprises lots of great answers from a survey I did around the importance of stories, mix in with some black and white close ups, a couple of fade out effects and heavy editing and this is what you get - a simple but personal message. I hope you like it and to show further support, like the Fable Facebook page here.

A zine in 48 hours

Own photographs
In preparation of the zine project I am currently doing I made a 48 hour zine, called Lippy. Anyone else out there who appreciates the allure of lipstick will get this zine I'm sure. I have an obsession with lipstick, I can't deny it, I practically wear it everyday - in fact I do wear it everyday! Pucker up people and have a laugh and my DIY attempt of a zine.

Going back to go forward
I love painting, it is a serious passion of mine or it was. I am trying to get back into it as when I came to uni I kind of lost touch with it all together. My favourite type of painting is water colour seascapes. These images are the first I have painted in a very long time so my technique isn't as accomplished as it used to be. I really need to get my hands on my old work from A Level and play around with it in Photoshop like the top image as I think it could make it much more interesting. This year, I am really trying to get back to my roots, my loves in life. Just because I am doing fashion now doesn't mean I can't draw and paint and write literature. However, it does mean it will be a lot harder to do around my studies. I feel like a joker juggling, trying to keep everything up the air until something, eventually drops. I guess that is the life of a fashion student, to learn the art of multi-tasking. Thank god I'm a woman then, mother nature should be on my side.

Pentland project

A few images from my Pentland project for university which was picked to be displayed in an exhibition alongside 36 other students. I was so happy to be selected to exhibit as I had spent so much time over the summer on this project. The brief was basically to use two brands, one fashion led and the other technologically advanced from a selection of Pentland's brands and lend marketing/product ideas from one and apply them to the other. Sounds complicated in my wording but it was quite straight forward, the difficult part was coming up with the ideas! I chose Speedo and used Boxfresh's communication strategy to target a new younger and more trend led consumer for a new Speedo range.

Noir magazine
So, the Noir magazine issue, Future, I was a journalistic contributor for has been published today. I am in awe of the outcome! It looks great and it is really fulfilling seeing my name printed next to my writing. Above is the articals I did but to see the complete magazine (and readable pages) click on the link below and then click 'read'. It is a fantastic magazine full of fashion and beauty, celebrity interviews and photo-shoots and is free to observe, so please take a look.
Enjoy x

University report
These are some of the pages from my report for University about Firetrap making a possible product extension into cosmetics. I really enjoyed the project, especially the visual elements and as Firetrap has such a strong visual identity it gave me many great ideas. The report is due in today so lets hope I do well.
