Motives Make up Review

I was sent these lovely cosmetic items to test and review for you guys and as I had never heard of Motives before I was a little dubious. But I was pleasantly surprised when I came to try them out! Now the stand out product for me was the beautiful eye shadow in a pewtery, metallic brown. I have a similar shade by Bobbi Brown called Sand Dollar but in a cream formula. So, it is nice to now have a combination of types for this light and flattering shade. Although I love eyeliner I have never been a fan of gel liner. I don't think you get an as defined line with it. However, it is perfect for a more smudged look. That said I did my best with the product despite not having a tool made for the application of gel eyeliners. So, more practice is needed in that department. I am a huge mascara fan and find it hard to discover ones that rule over my beloved favourites, which you can find here. But what I did like about this product was it's small brush and bristles. I felt I could really get to every lash from root to tip. But as a lady who likes her lashes to really sing I'd have to add a volumising mascara over the top. But for everyday makeup - and especially for bottom lashes, this is a great mascara. Lastly, the lipstick. Now its texture is very creamy and is a pleasure to apply but the colour just ins't for me. I have a tight set of red lippies and I tend to go for those with more coral undertones but Manhattan was really quite dark on me. Also, for reds I much prefer a matte look as I find it compliments the colour better but that said I think this lipstick in a different lighter colour would be lovely.
